Water Aid (WASH in Schools and Communities)

Over the last fourteen years, of successful experiences in providing support to the poor segment in the Urban WASH programme in Schools and Communities, AARAMBH with the support of WATER AID (Jal Seva Charitable Foundation) has able to construct more than three thousand toilets in the slum through the community led approach. 48 slums have been declared open defecation free through our efforts and also provided Water and Toilet support in Government Schools

Under the partnership with Water Aid, we are implementing the city level WASH activities adhering to the values of partnership on Social Inclusion, Gender Equity, Community Involvement and Sustainability.  We have developed linkages with Local Government Institutions and Community Based Organization.

AARAMBH – WATERAID partnership was commenced in the year 2005. The main objective of our WASH Programme is to demonstrate good practices in the urban water and sanitation sector through community led approach. In association with Water Aid, AARAMBH has implemented Slum Environmental & Sanitation Project (SES)I, Area Improvement Fund and Community Initiative Fund (AIF-CIF) under ADB Projectand SWADHAR projectand also demonstrated how communities can be empowered to generate demand for Water and Sanitation facilities in their respective areas.

We are also supporting Kastuba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBVs) with the support of National Stock Exchange and Water Aid under the supervision of Tribal and Education Department, Government of MP in 9 Districts of Madhya Madhya Pradesh. These districts are Jhabua, Alrajpur, Khandwa, Chindwada, Siwani, Umeriya, Shadol, Anupur. Now up scaling the project in Sagar, Betul, Hoshangabad and Harda.
