SELF DEFENCE TRAINING ORGANIZED BY AARAMBH FOR THE VISUAL IMPAIRED (BLIND) GIRLS IN RAISEN, MP
Six days long Self Defence Training Program for visually-impaired girls with the support of Sightsavers and an initiative of Bajaj Allianzculminated in the grace presence of CEO, Jila Panchayat, Raisen District Mrs. Anju Pawan Bhadoriya, IAS, with a demonstration by 18Adolescent girls of the Raisen Districts from 5th May to 10th May 2023. The training was conducted by the very experienced Trainer from Mumbai Mr. Arvind Khaire.
Girls showed exemplary coordination of hands, feet and eyes and gave demonstrations on how to defend and protect oneself if attacked in an ATM, a kidnapping attempt, bag snatching and being attacked with a knife. The girls also showed the strength and coordination they had achieved during the six days training sessions.
Through the self-defence course, adolescent girls have enhanced strength and confidence. The ability to physically defend themselves has made them feel more empowered in their life.”They were taught how personal safety and upkeeping of the self-esteem at every situation is helpful in remaining confident and fight against any external attack. AARAMBH also took a special session of girls on POCSO (The Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act, 2012). The girls thereby learnt what are the safeguarding laws and enforcement for the protection of children from any kind of sexual harassment, the legal provisions and helpline numbers etc.
