Mobile Eye Health Van intervention in Bhopal

One of the approaches of the AARAMBH’s Urban Eye Health Programme with the support of Sightsaversunder Refresh Strategy 2021-25 is reaching out to the slum dwellers, migrants, occupational workers, mid income communities through well-equipped Mobile van facility. Mobile Van will be providing Basic eye screening to advanced – DR/Glaucoma screening, Spectacles dispensation and referral for treatment. Van will link up with UPHCs/health facilities thus collaborating with Govt. for integration of eye care.

The Mobile Van would be providing eye care services to all the UPHCs/NCD clinics on a fixed day providing screenings/refractions & referring patients to the referral centres for higher order diseases. Particularly for DR and Glaucoma, initial screening and counselling will be undertaken at the PEC/NCD clinics and would refer to the identified base hospital for advance examination & treatment.

The main goal of the Mobile Van is “Improved eye health of the urban population including the poor and underserved in the project through inclusive eye health services between 2021-2025” with two-fold focus on Equitable coverage and Programmatic /Financial Sustainability.
